THE NINE LIVES OF CHRISTMAS tells the story of Ambrose, a cat whose owner has died, and is now in need of a new home and Zach, the man Ambrose has decided will become his new owner. Zach however has other ideas and adopting a cat isn't even close to making his list of things to do. He believes in a life without committed relationships of any type. When Ambrose does succeed in attaching himself to Zach, Zach begins to bend a bit and decides that there are a few things that will make life a bit easier for himself and Ambrose...hence a trip to Pet Palace is needed. There he meets Merilee who he soon comes to depend on for help with the cat that Zach calls Tom.
Merilee is nowhere near the confident person that Zach's girlfriend, Blair is. But she soon finds herself wishing for more from Zach, but believes that she can't compete. However, when Tom/Ambrose takes an instant dislike to Blair, Zach finds himself depending more and more on Merilee for advice, and soon the realization that Blair might not be the one for Zach becomes more and more evident to everyone.
