After more than a year of upheaval, Mallory Hamilton has reached her fill of change--with one exception. Her house is a disaster, and she wants it fixed. By restoring her house, she hopes she might be able to banish the last of the memories of her failed marriage and the misery of the past year.

Ben Carpenter is thrilled to work on Mallory's home. He's raising his thirteen year old daughter, Amber, and could use the additional income. Since his out-of-control, bi-polar ex-wife, Theresa, refuses to get treatment or take medication, Ben is practically a single parent. He has to walk a fine line between dealing with the negative consequences of Theresa's manic episodes while not destroying the relationship between mother and daughter.

Mallory and Ben grow closer as he works on the house--forcing her to realize that not every man is like her loser ex-husband. And of course a little push from her three closest lunch time friends helps her to get out of her own way when it comes to love.
