In communist East Germany, Pastor Klaus Hirt has lost faith in the government and is not afraid to say so. But following his wife’s dementia and painful death, he suffers a crisis of faith. All he has left is his anger against God and the government that has betrayed his people.

Stasi Agent Wilfrid Berg is intrigued when he finds himself in possession of a Bible thrown from a train into the snow. This sends him on a quest to discover the owner. He gets more than he bargains for when he meets Klaus Hirt’s daughter.

In a country that rewards free speech with punishment and imprisonment, both men embark on a journey that will change their lives.
