Deborah E. Kennedy grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the youngest of three children. She has worked as a reporter, editor, baseball coach, ice cream scooper, cookie packer, and English teacher. Her short stories have appeared in Third Coast magazine, Sou'wester, and North American Review, and she's contributed pieces to Salon, The Establishment, The Hairpin, The Oregonian, the Los Angeles Review of Books, and Willamette Week, among others. A graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, she lives in Forest Grove, Oregon with her mother and young son.
