His reporting on Geoffrey Canada and the Harlem Children's Zone originally appeared as a New York Times Magazine cover story. He has been an editor at Harper's Magazine and a producer for NPR's This American Life, and he has written for The New Yorker, GQ, Esquire, and the New York Observer. Tough lives with his wife in New York City.
