Writer of sci-fi/fantasy/horror popular fiction by day; plain old fannish geek by night (we're talking role-playing games and borderline SCA activities so I'm pretty much up to the neck in geek-quicksand). You can find me on the shelves if you look in the SF/Fantasy genre for "E.E. Knight." Right now I'm putting out my "Vampire Earth" series, a post-apoc about Earth under the heel of a race of extraterrestrial vampires. A reviewer called it a mix of "Starship Troopers" and "Secret Army" (a BBC story about the French Underground in WW2) and that's pretty close.
Married to a brilliant and beautiful fannish librarian (chats_noirs on lj) who also bellydances in a pro troupe. Fond of dogs, cats, parrots, and horses, but right now we just have cats in our condo. And some fish, to amuse the cats.
Other than writing, I teach a genre fiction class (writing of, that is, though a plain old discussion would be much more fun, but alas! who'd pay for it?).
Born in Wisconsin (La Crosse). Grew up in Minnesota. Educated (BA from NIU in DeKalb IL, your basic corn college, with double major in History and Political Science) in Illinois. First job was helping a neighbor train his field-show team of labrador retrievers, which involved standing in mosquito-infested cattails to throw retrieving targets for the dogs for a few hours, then spraying out the poop from the kennels when we returned. Since then I've worked at everything from managing a McDonald's to writing code for Andersen Consulting. Parents are retired and living in Sarasota. One brother, Stef, a tenured professor at USF Tampa Bay.
