Blame it on the Rhumba when they end up every time in sex and has backfired this time. Now Emma finds herself pregnant. Secretly happy to have another chance with a baby, she knows Darcy will not be a happy camper. Bound to tell Darcy, he insists he will provide financial care but has no intentions of becoming emotionally involved with the child. If they just didn't end up in bed every time they got together, this might come to fruition. An emergency C- section changes everything. Darcy still keeps his distance until finding Emma sick with pneumonia and his infant son Billy dirty, fussy and colicky. Taking control and forced to finally care for his son, he finds himself totally in love with the little guy. Both Emma and Darcy lie to themselves that they feel no love for the other and prepare for separate lives. If only Emma's secret shame was out in the open. The sexy erotic music and love of the dance plus the mix of an adorable new son, has a way of putting the love and reality back into the lives of these two soul mates.
Even though MAYBE THIS TIME begins with the emotional and tragic history of a lost child, it is also about the rebuilding of two very lost souls who find their way back to living again. MAYBE THIS TIME is all about true love and healing from the death of a child who has been everything to the parents. Joan Kilby has created a very heartwarming albeit tragic story of two people destined to be together, even through a tragic loss that is every parent's worst fear. I have not had the opportunity to read other works of this author but will be sure to do so now.
Book Summary
What are the chances of running into your ex-wife on a singles cruise? Apparently very high, as Darcy Lewis discovers. With their messy past, surely he and Emma can stay on opposite sides of the ship and leave each other alone. They can't. Instead, they spend a sinfully hot night together. Too bad the morning after proves they separated for good reason. Even when Emma tells him she's pregnant, they decide they're better apart. Or are they? Because somehow they keep turning to each other for support. And it's clear the attraction is still there. Maybe this is their second chance—a new baby, a new chance to make this work
