Recently vindicated and her law license reinstated, Kendra Ballantyne is enjoying working with a small law firm as a partner. Kendra loves her work as a lawyer, though she keeps her side job as a pet-sitter. It's her love of animals that makes her enjoy working with fellow lawyer Ezra Cossner.

Ezra owns Gigi, a blue macaw. When Ezra is murdered, Gigi is the only witness, and getting reliable information out of a bird that can say her own name and sing "99 Bottles of Beer" is a challenge for Kendra. When a paralegal is shot a few days later, the police come up with a suspect that has Kendra determined to solve the case -- her lover, private investigator Jeff Hubbard.

Kendra's faith in Jeff is shaken on a personal level when his ex- turns up, determined to have him back. She provides an alibi for him, insinuating to Kendra that there's more between them than a business relationship. Knowing Jeff is innocent brings up memories of her own run-in with the law, and Kendra's pursuit of justice puts her in danger, bringing Gigi to the rescue!

This is a fast-paced who-done-it with a multitude of clues cleverly put together for a satisfying conclusion. Kendra is a fun character, and her supporting friends and assorted critters make an enjoyable read. Fans will enjoy this latest Pet-Sitter Mystery!
