Lucius Aquila is a man of honor searching to take up his post and find the real reason the last commander, his brother Aulus, died. Haunted by Aulus' ghost, literally as well has metaphorically, he's shocked when a glorious barbarian Celt shoots him in the rear with an arrow. Torn between conquering this fiery beauty and putting to rest the ghost of his brother, he also must rally the surprisingly inadequate forces of the Roman battalion to withstand a murderous onslaught. Rhiannon is a captivating mystery of fire and compassion, and she haunts him in an entirely different way than his brother. When she captures his younger son Marcus' heart, as well as encouraging his talents, while bringing father and son closer together, Lucius must puzzle as to why Aulus only fails to follow him when in Rhiannon's presence. Soon honor and love war within Lucius' soul, just as much as within Rhiannon's, and he knows the wondrous passion between them is more than just a fluke. But this fluke may very well end his life and cause the downfall of the outpost, as well.
Joy Nash has created a lush world for senses of all kinds. Rhiannon is a wonderfully strong and feisty heroine, while Lucius is an enigma of strength, love and honor. Together, these two lovers are destined to capture the hearts and minds of the reader as their Rhett and Scarlett feud lights up the pages with a kind of magical Celtic fire. There are plenty of love scenes of the most erotic sort, and the characters, including Aulus and Marcus, can't fail but to touch your soul. This is a wonderfully fast- paced read full of romance, love and fantasy that will continue to burn in the hearts of readers after the last page is turned.
