Roxanne Rayeaux has had enough of men. The only ones she can trust are her best friend from high school, Matt, and her father-figure, master chef M. Girmond. So putting her super-model career behind her, she buys a building, living in one of the upstairs apartments and turning the pub downstairs into a French restaurant.

Steve Serrano has been a bartender since college, where he was a history major. Although his good looks and charm have helped him with his bartending, his goal is to get the book published that he's writing about a historian. Unfortunately, some of the facts for his book may be hidden in the walls of the building he lives and works in.

Roxanne and Steve don't hit it off right away. However, with a little help from Matt, they soon start to see each other in a different light. Although their attraction is great and they keep coming together, they both have secrets. Roxanne has trust issues and believes the worst of Steve, thinking he's the one breaking into her restaurant.

Shortly after their break-up, Roxanne feels she made a mistake and wants Steve back. She goes to his apartment, but instead of finding Steve, she discovers the real person behind the break-ins, and then Steve discovers them. Roxanne has to make Steve understand that although she lost faith in him, it was because someone planted the seed of doubt in her head.

SPECIAL OF THE DAY is a fun story. The characters work great together and make you believe dreams can come true. This is the kind of story you read on a rainy day because you don't want to put it down once you start it.
