Fans of Linda Broday's Lone Star Legend series finally get to spend time with Sam Legend. Sam Legend seems to be the least civilized of the broad, numerous Legend clan. Sam likes his quiet, solitude. But even this bear of a man knows the downside of his habits. Perhaps this is just the season to show Sam that there is indeed a way to ease out of his self-enforced loneliness. And that just might be the erasable Miss Cheyenne Ronan.
Family is wonderful, at times just too much, but there’s no denying that the one thing Sam and Cheyenne share is their respect for family and tradition. Cheyenne has been teaching Apache children until recently. She lost that position when she balked at the dismissal of the Apache treatment. Learning was important. Tradition was vital to one’s soul.
Sam has been using his time to hone his craft into a business. Cheyenne is trying to discover what the future holds for her. They have more in common than they would believe. As remote as Sam has been since the death of his young wife, he remained connected, albeit by a thin thread, to the large legend brood. In fact, Sam is intent on selling his knives in time to cash out for Christmas gifts. His generosity extends to a group of young children in need of some seasonal happiness.
The community is still rather rough around the edges. And even though the Legend property is far-reaching, there are those that feel free to sow their wild oats. Safety is foremost. And it now appears as though Cheyenne has caught Sam’s eye and his interest in keeping her safe has risen above his desire for self-imposed solitude.
Sam feels the need to separate from the family in some part to protect them. He failed to protect his wife. He lives with that guilt. Now though perhaps something has changed. Will Sam take a chance on a life and perhaps a new love. Or will the fickle hand of fate catch up to him? Can he take a chance making someone else a target for the evil stalking him?
As always, Linda Broadway includes a delightful cast of characters in A COWBOY CHRISTMAS LEGEND. We are reintroduced to many of the Legend family. Cheyenne and Sam quickly become important to the reader. Linda Broday makes short work in getting us invested in their lives and story. The scenery is rough but beautifully described with a loving eye. We even have a wolf-dog named Shadow to round out this engaging cast. A COWBOY CHRISTMAS LEGEND is a classic mixture of good versus evil. A classic novel from Linda Broday with just the right amount of intrigue and angst combined with love, family, tradition, and the holiday season. A COWBOY CHRISTMAS LEGEND finds a place of honor in the Legend Family series penned by the creative Linda Broday.
