Have you ever read a book, finished it, and picked it up weeks later to see if you had read it already. Those of you that are voracious readers like myself know exactly what I mean. It’s one of the reasons I read books more than once. I forget the title but acknowledge that it is written by one of my favorites. So I start all over.

Well THE CHRISTMAS WISH is one of those books. Read it several weeks ago but neglected to write my review!

I remembered that several of my favorite characters from the town of Blessings were part of the story. Once in Blessings, Georgia you never forget the folks you meet. Sharon Sala centered this series around this charming town filled with unforgettable, albeit somewhat eccentric people.

So of course I shortly came upon names no one would ever forget: Peanut Butterman and his lovely wife Ruby. That’s after we are introduced to Wade and Brigette. But then we fast forward to still more folks, who readers of the series are not familiar with but will be central to THE CHRISTMAS WISH. Duff Martin, his mother, and his brother. Duff's father has been in jail for a home robbery since he was six. There is not much Duff knows about his dad, but we are all along for the ride while some important events of the past get uncovered that just might have a huge impact on many of these folk.

As soon as I read the first few lines about Duff and his family, I knew that I had already had the pleasure of meeting them. I practically laughed out loud because I knew where this amazing tale was headed. And I just knew I would sit back and re-read THE CHRISTMAS WISH.  It is that well written.

As always it is imperative that I not give away too much of a story. But suffice it to say that THE CHRISTMAS WISH is filled with a myriad of twists and turns. Sharon Sala really flexes her storytelling in this wonderful tale that just happens to take place in the season of joy and love and miracles. If you judge a book by its cover or its title then THE CHRISTMAS WISH just might miss catching your eye, which would be such a shame. THE CHRISTMAS WISH is much more than its title suggests and not just another seasonal tale. Sharon Sala injects her writing with creativity, humor, angst, regret, mystery, crime, and hope. It’s no wonder why I never hesitate to pick up a book by this prolific author. THE CHRISTMAS WISH will tell you why.
