HAUNTED IN DEATH by J.D. Robb - Lieutenant Eve Dallas is a murder cop in New York City, 2060. This time, the dead is found in the haunted remains of a 1960s era nightclub. The murder weapon is a banned handgun from the same era, and when a skeleton is discovered in the building, it's discovered that the same weapon was used in both murders. On this investigation, Eve is getting help from her usual crew, and from an unknown source, which seems to be otherworldly. But Eve knows that can't be...or can it?

POPPY'S COIN by Mary Blayney - On a historical tour of a house in London, a girl is shown a coin and through this coin, she sees a story of magic. In 1817 London, Major David Lindsay has returned home after Waterloo with two small wards to provide for - and no income. Given a "magic" coin from one of his wards, he wishes for profitable and pleasurable employment, so he can provide for them. But when he's offered a job as escort to Lady Grace Anderson, a young widow of means, he must make a tough choice between pride and necessity. Wanting her as he does will make the job even harder, because to keep his honor, he knows he must not touch her.

THE PASSENGER by Ruth Ryan Langan - Extreme athlete Josh Cramer is tired and ready for an extended break. But first he must make one last jaunt. On a trip to begin a trek out of deep wilderness for a possible television series, his plane goes down on the shores of Spirit Lake, a place known as the Bermuda Triangle of the wilderness. Grace Marin is at Spirit Lake hoping to get pictures of a ghostly presence said to be a woman who appears in the lake. When Josh's plane crashes, Grace nurses him back to consciousness. While waiting for help to come, they begin uncovering the story of the ghostly woman, only to learn they both have ties to the ghost neither of them suspected. And that they need each other desperately.

MELLOW LEMON YELLOW by Mary Kay McComas - Charlotte Gibson is a CPA. When her father dies, a strange man begins to -- well -- stalk her. But he seems harmless, sort of. After all, he is wearing Dorothy's ruby slippers, along with football pants and a Grateful Dead T-shirt. Charlotte doesn't remember him, but she soon learns he's Mel, her imaginary friend from childhood, whom she's brought back to help her through this major change in her life. And she wants change. No more blind dates. She's had enough Casper Milquetoast. She wants hot -- wild -- alpha -- maybe a bit dangerous. But before she can handle alpha, she has to rid herself of Mel. No one, however, can make him leave. Only Charlotte can do that, and only when she's ready to face her new life.

This collection of novellas was fun. Familiar characters, new faces, well-loved authors -- what's not to like? Each story was just enough for an after dinner dessert or an after work chill out. Fresh storylines and a bit of otherworldly influence make this a great group of stories. A very good read.
