Geologist Samantha Carlson loves a challenge, and it's a good thing, because chasing down formations that will yield diamonds and other gems takes her into rough territory. When Patrick Kerrigan, president of Gem-Star, hires her to go into the jungles of the Democratic Republic of Congo and find the location of a diamond vein, she does a little research and then accepts the job.

Travis McNeil, a former Navy SEAL, is tasked with keeping Samantha safe, and to do so, he hires a team with a variety of skills to protect the expedition. Both Travis and Samantha have a strong history of tackling difficult terrain in hostile countries, but neither are prepared for what happens in the Congo.

From one breathtaking, life-threatening scene to the next, you'll feel like you're watching an adventure movie with a less than sure outcome. Is Kerrigan the one putting his own team's lives in danger? Will they ever be safe from the killers trying to learn the location of the diamond vein?

What a terrific read! Samantha is cool under fire (just the kind of brave, gutsy woman we all wish we could be!) and McNeil, well, he's a former Navy SEAL. Courageous, knowledgeable and tough as they come. Buick's writing is snappy and thorough; you aren't weighed down with the logistics of a diamond expedition, but instead stay focused on the energy and the danger. Prepare to curl up with this book until the last page is turned.
