A thriller that leaves you wondering about the people around you and the lives and lies they live, CONFESSIONS ON THE 7:45 written by Lisa Unger is one that will. The storyline is great and as you read you keep thinking what next? I love the idea of strangers on a train meeting and connecting as it sets you up for what you know will be some seriously crazy stuff. But just you wait, you can in no way see what is completely coming. You might see that some people have way more secrets then you thought.

Selena Murphy meets a stranger on a train on the way home one afternoon after finding out that her husband has been sleeping with the nanny. This woman she meets, Martha confesses to her that she has been sleeping with her boss.  They both share their secrets with each other thinking they will never see each other again. Then Selena’s nanny disappears after leaving the job and no one has seen her and has no idea what has happened to her. This has turned Selena’s world upside down as not she is getting mysterious texts from Martha, and someone knows something. But what? And will Selena’s life come tumbling down all around her? She will learn more secrets that she never thought possible. She may learn that she never really knew the ones she loved to begin with.

CONFESSIONS OF THE 7:45 is well written with a mystery that builds throughout. This one was hard to put down and is one I would read again. A psychological thriller that keeps you stuck in the book until the last chapter. Lisa Unger has a way of captivating an audience with her thrillers and this one will not disappoint. If you really love thrillers, then you will love this one.

Book Summary

From master of suspense Lisa Unger comes a riveting thriller about a chance encounter that unravels a stunning web of lies and deceit.

Be careful to whom you tell your darkest secrets…

Selena Murphy is commuting home from her job in the city when the train stalls out on the tracks. She strikes up a conversation with a beautiful stranger in the next seat, and their connection is fast and easy. The woman introduces herself as Martha and confesses that she’s been stuck in an affair with her boss. Selena, in turn, confesses that she suspects her husband is sleeping with the nanny. When the train arrives at Selena’s station, the two women part ways, presumably never to meet again.

But days later, Selena’s nanny disappears.

Soon Selena finds her once-perfect life upended. As she is pulled into the mystery of the missing nanny, and as the fractures in her marriage grow deeper, Selena begins to wonder, who was Martha really? But she is hardly prepared for what she’ll discover.

Expertly plotted and reminiscent of the timeless classic Strangers on a Train, Confessions on the 7:45 is a gripping thriller about the delicate facades we create around our lives.
