This fast-paced, action-packed story ramps up the energy and provides an entertaining escape. HELL & BACK is the fifth book in the Outbreak Task Force series and it has all the deception, double-crossing, and steamy sex to keep readers glued to the pages.
CDC Lab Tech Ruby Toth comes from a family immersed in highly classified government positions. Her brother, Nate, works for Mars Mission Labs on propulsion projects, and her mother and father work for the NSA. Ruby knows how to handle herself around strong personalities and her boss CDC virologist and ex-special forces, Henry Lee, is no exception. The FAFO, a terrorist group is bent on unleashing a pandemic, targets the CDC to obtain the smallpox virus. Ruby and Henry must work together to stop this mission. When Ruby’s brother Nate is kidnapped by terrorists, and held in exchange for the virus, Ruby has the ultimate decision to make. Does she steal the virus and save her brother? Or let her brother die and save the lives of countless others? Or is there a possible third option she can employ and can she trust Henry to help her carry out her plan?
Ruby is a strong counterpart to Henry Lee. I like her spunk and toughness packed into her petite form. Henry is rough around the edges, but Ruby can read him well. The chemistry is undeniable and the action is non-stop. The sex scenes are steamy, but a little far-fetched as these two are fighting for their lives, but have time to stop and engage in intercourse. Several good fight scenes plant you right in the middle of the action. With multiple interesting plot points and angles--mercenaries, pharmaceutical companies, terrorist organizations, the CDC, and the scary idea of a bio-engineered pandemic being released on the public, HELL & BACK is a wild ride and sure to entertain fans of this type of book.
Book Summary
Racing to lock down the CDC's deadly virus samples from terrorists, ex-Special Forces medic Henry Lee partners with Ruby Toth on the Outbreak Task Force. But the terrorists always seem one step ahead. As they work side by side, Henry's taken with how Ruby accepts and respects him, instead of pitying him for all he lost overseas, including his leg. Ruby's hiding something, though, and Henry fears she's been leaking sensitive information.
Terrorists have kidnapped her brother, and now microbiologist Ruby Toth faces a horrible choice. If she doesn't give them a vial of Small Pox as ransom, her brother will die. She knows her prickly—yet very hot—boss, Henry, could provide the help she needs. But she joined the CDC to root out insiders plotting to unleash a bio-engineered pandemic, and she can't trust anyone. Not even Henry.
