With renovations complete at Smythe Orchards, owned by her grandmother, and opening her cider shop, Winona “Winnie” Mae Montgomery is finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Business is thriving. Winnie is almost done with college. She also has the opportunity to get some national recognition in a cider contest. To top off her run of good luck, they are hosting their first wedding reception at the orchard. Things are going smoothly, until she spots the groom get into a slight altercation with her ex-boyfriend, Hank. While going to find out what Hank is up to, she stumbles upon the groom, dead under their honeymoon get-away truck. When Hank flees the scene, Winnie knows she needs to help him, regardless of their past. After narrowly escaping with her life after delving into a past murder investigation, Sheriff Colton Wise is not too happy with Winnie’s plan. With the list of possible murder suspects piling up, things take a turn for the worse when another victim is found and Winnie is assaulted in her shop. More determined than ever, Winnie is close to piecing together the clues, unless the killer gets to her first.

Set in picturesque Virginia, this second installment in the CIDER SHOP MYSTERY series is the perfect spring escape. From the imagery of the orchards to practically being able to taste the cider, readers will get lost in Winnie’s world. The fast-paced plotline will keep you guessing; just when you think you have it figured out, another twist makes you think twice. All of the characters are all well-developed and relatable. I really enjoyed the close relationship and banter Winnie has with her grandmother and also with her best friend, Dot. PULP FRICTION is the second book in this series but it can be read as a standalone. I would recommend starting at book one just because this is a series you can’t go wrong with. As an added bonus, there are hints at a continuing plotline going into book three. I cannot wait to see how this series continues to unfold.
