Brenna McConnell, a lifetime resident of Sweetwater Creek, had to put her dreams of a college diploma and a teaching degree on hold when her parents were killed in an automobile accident.  She had no choice but to drop out of college in her senior year and return home to take care of and raise her younger sister, Eve. She lost her fiance because he had no interest in hanging around as Brenna brought up Eve, but there was no one else to do it. Brenna also took over her mother's popular catering business, A Taste of Heaven. She loves to cook, is creative, and loves working with the locals. Eve, on the other hand, hates the business and burns more than she bakes. Eve tells Brenna she wants to become a firefighter like her father, rather than go to college like Brenna wants her to do. A serious rift develops between the two sisters, especially once Eve graduations and immediately gets a job at the Sweetwater Creek Fire Department.

Even with everything gong on, Brenna bakes doughnuts and decides to bring them to her new neighbor. She had seen him around town, thought he was good looking, and wanted to welcome him to the neighborhood. Luke thinks Brenna is gorgeous and their chemistry sizzles. Neither wants a relationship but everyone knows you can't stop fate. Brenna even falls for Max, Luke's adorable emotional support dog!

STARTING OVER AT BLUEBERRY CREEK is the fourth book in the Sweetwater Springs series by Annie Raines who knows how to tell a delight of a story, full of family dysfunction, second chances, and some firefighting, too. This is Brenna and Luke's sweet and slow story with a smidge of sexy and lots of humor. Luke is a wonderful guy, patient and caring to all. Brenna had to learn to loosen the reins and let her sister follow her dreams. In the end, friends-to-lovers find their direction and head for a happily ever after that I loved.  Nice read and I look forward to more from Ms. Annie Raines.
