THE COUNTRY GUESTHOUSE by Robyn Carr

"Welcome back to Sullivan's Crossing"

THE COUNTRY GUESTHOUSE is guaranteed to be one of my favorites by Robyn Carr - it's an addition to her Sullivan's Crossing series and chock full of old friends, like Sully, Helen, Beau and photographer extraordinaire Owen and his dog Romeo.

New to this cast of characters is Hannah and the child she's the guardian of, Noah. Hannah is a corporate sales manager, a high-stress position but she's been rewarded with a successful career and that she has stuck with for so long because she's well-compensated. Then her personal life took an abrupt halt when she found out how her fiance was keeping himself occupied while she worked. Soon after, her best friend passed away and she was listed as Noah's guardian.

At a corporate retreat, Hannah discovers Sully’s Mountain. When faced with a life-altering challenge, Hannah decides that taking a second trip to the same Colorado bed and breakfast will benefit both herself and Noah.

When they arrive, Hannah is surprised to discover that the owner of the bed and breakfast is on the premises and she's worried about disrupting his life and privacy. But Hannah will soon learn about the people on Sully's Mountain and Owen, in particular.

Owen is decidedly a loner in many ways. He came to Sully's Mountain to gain some perspective after losing his young son. The folks there are so supportive, but Owen steers clear of children, until now. Sully has a three-year-old granddaughter and now Hannah and five-year-old Noah are living there.

One of the most astounding facts is how Owen insinuates himself into the daily activities of Hannah and Noah. This is something no one could have foreseen. And this is where THE COUNTRY GUESTHOUSE shines - it's a simply glorious look at life blooming again, unexpected and wondrous. This isn't easy for anyone involved, but when is something worthwhile every easy? Happiness has to be earned, and this book by Robyn Carr showcases that in spades.

All of the books in this series are worth the price of admission but do not worry if you’ve missed or overlooked a couple. They are all great stories that manage to incorporate characters from previous installments and Robyn Carr is careful to remind you who these folks are and about their wonderful relationships.

Book Summary

A summer rental, a new beginning. . .

Hannah Russell’s carefully crafted plans for her life have been upended without warning. When her best friend died suddenly, Hannah became guardian to a five-year-old named Noah. With no experience at motherhood, she’s terrified she’s not up to the challenge. She and Noah need time to get to know each other, so she decides to rent a country house with stunning views on a lake in rural Colorado.

When they arrive at the house, they are greeted by the owner, a handsome man who promises to stay out of their way. But his clumsy Great Dane, Romeo, has other ideas and Noah immediately bonds with the lovable dog. As Hannah learns to become a mother, Owen Abrams, who is recovering from his own grief, can’t help but be drawn out of his solitude by his guests.

But life throws more challenges at this unlikely trio and they are tested in ways they never thought possible. All three will discover their strengths and, despite their differences, they will fight to become a family. And the people of Sullivan’s Crossing will rally around them to offer all of the support they need.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Robyn Carr delivers an emotional and triumphant novel about the fierce power of a mother’s love.
