Gena Showalter’s FROST AND FLAME is action-packed and thrilling. I was interested in the story of Bane and Nola since the first book of the series. However, I did encounter something that kind of hindered my reading experience.

As a fan of Showalter’s writing for many years, I can safely say that I’ve read the majority of her books, but I do feel like her writing style has definitely changed over the years and in this particular book, it’s very clear.

FROST AND FLAME has a choppy narration, which I think made it hard to get into in the beginning. While I enjoyed the characters, the worldbuilding, and the plot, there was a lot of stops and starts throughout the book, which I think impacted the flow. So I wasn’t such a big fan of that.

However, I still really love the concept of this series. I think if you’re a fan of Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark and Arcana Chronicles series, then you will definitely enjoy this book as well.
