Lady Pearl Howlett is the quiet, forgotten sister in a family of outgoing sisters. As the only one left in the household to manage their mother, Pearl longs to break free. She gets her chance when her scatterbrained mother leaves her in London by mistake. Owen, Earl of Llanover, just wants to be left alone without anyone expecting something of him. When he meets Pearl, he decides being alone for Christmas might not be the best idea after all.

Anyone that has read a few of my reviews before knows how much I absolutely love grumpy heroes. Owen was more of a quiet introvert than a true grump but I loved him all the same. He was the perfect hero for Pearl because he allowed her to break out of her shell for the first time in her life after being surrounded by talkative sisters. I enjoyed Pearl in the rest of this series, and it was a delight to finally see her get to learn who she was away from her mother and sisters as she became THE EARL’S CHRISTMAS PEARL.

Together, Owen and Pearl went on a few adventures and did some of the things Pearl had longed to do but couldn’t. Some of the things she longed to do were simple things we might take for granted, like learning to cook a meal for oneself. This wasn’t necessarily a very plot-driven novella but I enjoyed reading about Pearl and Owen making the holidays merry just the same.

THE EARL’S CHRISTMAS PEARL was a wonderful end to the Duke’s Daughters series and exactly what I expected from a Megan Frampton title!

Book Summary

A duke's daughter. An irrestible earl. And an energetic Corgi named Mr. Shorty. What more could you want in a Christmas novella by Megan Frampton?

It's Christmastime in London, and Lady Pearl Howlett is eagerly ready for the festivities—until her family goes off to their country estate...accidentally leaving her home alone! But she's not dismayed. Rather, she's thrilled to do exactly what she wants. Unfortunately, this daughter of a duke doesn't know how to do anything.

The Earl of Llanover has come to London to take refuge in his godmother's townhouse, free to be as awkward and grumpy as he wants. With his pet Corgi, Mr. Shorty, for company, Owen Dwyfor is ready for a quiet holiday away from his mother and sisters who would have him married off. That is, until his godmother's neighbor, Lady Pearl Howlett comes barging in to his solitude.

After some reluctance, the two come together for a joyous—and steamy—Christmas they won't forget.
