Savannah is known for its history and most especially known for its ghosts. Kristi Stewart has inherited property and knew the McLane House had such a reputation but never really believed it. Even the seances used for THE SUMMONING that are held for her guests at the bed and breakfast are just entertainment, a play of the history until a midnight visit from an ancestor has her running in fear.

Dallas Wicker knows all about ghosts, cemeteries, and crimes but the last thing he expects is to find in his arms is the very frightened, and trying to cover it and herself up, owner of the bed and breakfast he will be staying in. He is in Savannah to investigate disappearances as part of the F.B.I Krewe of Hunters. He soon finds that the house and its history just might be central to the modern day danger.

THE SUMMONING is the Krewe at its best. Author Heather Graham weaves history, ghosts, and danger into a gripping story like no other. Her characters, both the main ones and secondary, have depth and energy that seem very realistic, and the touch of romance is perfectly fit into the plot. Adding a hand to the investigation is Jackson Crow, supervising field director for the Krewe, and his wife Angela who arrive and begin delving through historical and private papers to ferret out the truth.

Kristi and Dallas make a perfect match, and though she is reluctant to admit to seeing ghosts, soon she realizes that she isn't crazy. Some people can and use that ability to solve crimes as those in the Krewe do.

The history of Savannah is amazing and heartbreaking as the war between the states had torn apart many lives. They have managed to rebuild, yet hold onto their past as many sites are open to public viewing where history buffs can soak up the atmosphere of the past.

I did try to solve the case before the ending, and Ms. Graham fooled me again with her very delicate twists and turns. Readers will probably not know the "bad" guys until the very end, and I believe they are in for a tremendous surprise. And in this case, if you learn nothing from this book, you will find that sometimes people will go to ridiculous, and not in a funny way, lengths to cover up a century-old crime.

If you are looking for a mystery or two, ghosts, danger, intrigue, a sweet yet steamy romance with a touch of history mixed in then you have to get your hands on THE SUMMONING and enjoy.
