They didn't know everything, but even Murhder was afraid that he was too far gone to be of any more help to his people The only thing he regretted to this day with that he was not THE SAVIOR for the pregnant vampire female in the cage. Then a letter arrives from her asking him for his help. Her son is still in the hands of the experimenting humans, and his transition is coming quickly. Can he swallow his pride, get the Brotherhood to help and honor this woman?

Dr. Sarah Watkins had lost her scientist fiance and felt she had dealt with it rather well, but when she is questioned by an F.B.I. agent, she begins to wonder if there was more to his death. She finds the firm they both worked for was doing secret experiments. Could her fiance have been part of this or did he die because he found out and was going to the authorities? No matter what she had to find the person, this paperwork spoke of ... if he was still alive. Thus starts an adventure that her wildest dreams could never have come up with.

The Black Dagger Brothers are back! I enjoyed the books written by J.R. Ward that centered on the students in training by the brothers, but I was so hoping for more on the original BDB. THE SAVIOR does and adds in the story of the brother we heard rumors of and seen bits of in past offerings as Murhder returns. It's not a happy reunion as the brother's not knowing all the facts about his "insanity" react in their usual way. Eventually, things smooth out with the rescue of the young boy, Nate, just in time for his transition. Additional help came from research scientist Dr. Sarah that led Murhder to become a guinea pig and ends up saving John Matthew from a rather nasty injury. Murhder's reaction to Sarah throughout the book can be called a mixture of comical, thrilled, sad, despondent and then thrilled again. You have to read the book to get and understand all the stages.

As always Ms. Ward gives her readers action, as John Matthew and Murhder manage to get a Lesser or two while out on an unapproved rotation, Sarah and Murhder have moments together that are sweet and steamy. The brothers get in their usual grips and threats, but it is certainly not all grumbling/angry BDB that fill the pages. Throe who had been part of Xcor's Band of Bastards rears his deceitful head. And, of course, our favorite fallen angel, Lassiter, is visible enough to bring lighter moments with his "Who's your daddy?" and his gold lamé butt-less chaps and usual comments from the brothers about him.

If you love the BDB and have to see them all back together as they should be, get your hands on THE SAVIOR and enjoy!
