They had a very good life until one day Maggie gets a phone call. Her long-lost daughter Anna called to reconnect with her mother. Maggie is thrilled after all these years to speak to her daughter again. Maggie is so excited that she jumps on a plane to see her again. Once Maggie sees her daughter, they decide that Anna should come home with her. Anna is excited that her mother wants her, and wants to start a new life together. One thing that Maggie is a little worried about is that Anna's father was killed in a plane crash and has left everything to Anna: over fifty million dollars.

As this happy little family starts their new life together, strange and terrible things start to happen. Anna is unfortunately murdered, and Noah is arrested for the murder when it is discovered that Anna accused him of making sexual advances. Anna even had a restraining order on him. Noah swears he is innocent, but Maggie just can't believe him. Everything seems to be stacking up against Noah. Even his lawyer has doubts about his innocence. More and more things just don't add up. Maggie is bound and determined to get to the bottom of what really is going on. Who is Anna really and why was she murdered?

AFTER ANNA by Lisa Scottoline writes a great thriller. I was pretty surprised at how this book turned out. There were twists and turns in this story that you will never see coming. I know I didn't. At times I felt sorry for Maggie, losing her daughter at such a young age and having to learn to live without her. PPD is a very strange illness and could happen to anyone. Scottoline describes this in a good way, showing that anyone could go back to living a great life. Scottoline also shows that no matter how long you are away from your child, you still would do anything to help them. So if you really love mystery books, pick up AFTER ANNA; you will not be able to put it down. This story does go back and forth, but done in such a great way you will not get confused.
