Kate gets a phone call from Tom, who tells her Severine's body has been found in a well on the farm, and now the police are opening up a murder case. The only one who is not a suspect is Theo, as he died in the war. Alain, the police officer, is conducting interviews on all of them. They all know that none of did this murder, but as the investigation continues, they are unsure... Somehow, Kate seems to be the main suspect, but why? Kate knows that she didn't do this, but she really is not sure about the rest of them, even her best friend Lara. Complicating things is the fact that Kate has struck up a little romance with Alain.

As the police continue to look into things further, more and more of the secrets are starting to come out. At the time when they were on vacation, Kate was dating Seb, Tom was dating Katie. But now Seb is married to Alina, and Tom and Lara just never worked out. They all were pretty sure that they saw Severine get on a bus out of town, so they really don't know how the body got in the well.

Somehow, one of these six friends is now wondering, do they really know each other at all?

Lexie Elliott writes one of the murder mysteries that really had me going. I thought I had THE FRENCH GIRL figured out, but then another twist happened. I truly enjoyed the storyline of these six friends. Not only is the secret of the murder going to come out, but other secrets are also going to come out.

Elliott made me feel like I was one of the characters in the book. I think I was probably like Kate. Maybe because she trusted some of the people that she shouldn't have. Makes you wonder how much you really know your friends. I also liked the way that Elliott let us see each of their personalities. From the start, I didn't care for Cara, just something about her. Each of them has their own backstory. I'd really like to see a sequel to this book, to see how they all handled all the secrets. I think mystery fans will really enjoy THE FRENCH GIRL.
