Dr. Holt Price is on a mission to find Vivian, the woman he loves and marry her. Upon entering post-Civil War Galveston, Texas, he has to use his medical skills to help a drunk doctor save a patient. Felicity Moore is angry at Holt from the beginning because he can reveal her father's condition and ruin his career. Holt is highhanded about the whole ordeal. But they are immediately attracted to each other. Felicity wants nothing to do with Holt because she has the feeling he could be the man who she's supposed to love, so she tries to keep Holt at a distance.
