She's created a challenge for herself: during the month of December, do one thing every day that scares her. So far she's tried online dating, which is an epic disaster. One good thing did come out of that terrible date—she meets Dr. Ethan Black. She first meets him in the Emergency Department after twisting her ankle jumping out of a window to escape her date-gone-wrong. He takes the time to make sure she's not in trouble. Harriet co-owns a dog walking business, and when a trusted client leaves her dog in the care of her brother, Harriet is surprised to see that it is Ethan again.

This second meeting does not go well. Madi, a skittish cocker spaniel, is scared in her new surroundings and destroys everything in sight. Ethan comes home to chaos after a horrific day and loses his temper causing Harriet and Madi discomfort. At first, Harriet is unwilling to leave Madi with him. But the more she talks with him, the more she realizes he's having a bad day. With Madi's comfort her main priority, Harriet rearranges her schedule so she can dog sit; something way outside her comfort zone. The more time she spends with Ethan, the more she relaxes around him. Ethan knows there's something about Harriet, but he also knows that he's terrible at relationships. Is it worth the risk?

MOONLIGHT OVER MANHATTAN wraps up the second From Manhattan With Love trilogy quite nicely as Harriet, the last of three siblings, finds her happily ever after and gains confidence at the same time. The challenges lead to some funny moments, but also serious reflection. Both characters blame themselves for past mistakes, causing them anguish in their personal lives. Ethan's failed marriage and hectic work schedule lead him to believe he's not the type of man who has lasting relationships. Harriet's horrific relationship with her father leads her to believe she is unworthy of love. During their interactions with each other, they share their pasts and gain hope towards the future. While most of the book takes place in Manhattan, part of the book takes place in Vermont. Readers from Morgan's previous books will recognize the Snow Crystal resort and the family that runs it. If you haven't read that series yet, go back and do so!
