Each of the fifteen year round knitted garments in INSPIRED SHAWLS has something special to say. The use of splashes of embroidery are just spectacular. And for those a little intimidated by intarsia, INSPIRED SHAWLS instructions are made to put even the novice at ease.

My usual mark of an excellent craft book -- knit, crochet, Tunisian -- is how many garments or items I could see myself making. In INSPIRED SHAWLS there is not a one that I wouldn't love to get started on. And of course there are some absolute favorites that are now on my must do list. Laura Zukaite has included one of the grandest shawls -- La Paz. The stitch work is intriguing and the embroidered edgework is beyond compare. The La Paz Shawl is something that will keep you knitting far into the night -- it is that amazing.

Then for the glamor choice -- well that would have to be the Nazca Shawl. Light and airy with a dynamic border with veins that travel from bottom to neck.

And finally for fun. How about the Puno Shawl -- a beauty in garter stitch with two embroidered panels. This would be just smashing in a variegated yarn with a solid contrasting color for the panels. Simple, gorgeous, fun and yes elegant.
