Ian's firm receives a call from Sean Callahan, who is investigating the family members receiving the trust fund from James Doyle, one of Ian's father's old clients. Even though Ian was trying to move away from trust fund cases, he takes the job because his father was involved in it, to begin with, and he could really use the large sum of money Callahan is offering him to take the case. As Ian starts to investigate, he finds some things that just don't seem right. Along with all of this, his mother is getting worse, and keeps saying she can't find "it." Ian thinks "it" is part of her memory loss, but could his mother know something about James Doyle?
More and more, Ian is involved with a huge criminal situation. His law school friend and prosecutor in the of US attorney's office, Brook Daniels is also investigating this case and she warns Ian that there is more to this than any of them realize. On top of that, Ian is being investigated because the money that was deposited in his account for this case has now disappeared. Where did the money go and who took it?
Ian is also having nightmares that he's had since he was a young boy. Ian remembers most of the dream, but he just can't figure out what it has to do with this trust. As more and more comes to light, Ian remembers that this all has to do with his mother and father. What is the connection to this trust and his parents?
Todd Johnson writes a great storyline, and it shows that he has
experience as a trial lawyer. At first, I was a little confused by all the
different characters, but once I got everyone straight and learned more
of the backstory, the plot really moved along. The whole storyline was
pretty mind-blowing. Everyone had a connection; even Ian's secretary
was connected in some way! Johnson also shows how Ian would do
anything to protect his mother and his friend, Brook. This shows what a
great person will do for the ones that he lovers. If you want a book that
keeps you guessing this is the book you need to pick up and read
