Hayden is a lawyer and has won most of her cases. She shares an apartment with her best friend Emilie who is in the middle of trying to help her cousin Andrew set up a fair for children. Andrew is the son of a congressman, but he also has a secret, he writes a blog that goes against everything that his father believes.

Hayden is handed a really strange case. It seems a young boy was murdered while in holding for coming into the United States illegally. Nothing about this case makes sense to Hayden, but since one of the partners gives her the case, there is no way she can refuse it. Hayden interviews the mother of the young man, but the mom is not giving her any information. It also seems that Andrew is mentoring the other son of the woman. Why wouldn't the mother tell Hayden anything?

Hayden gets Emilie involved in this, and the two are trying everything to get information about Miguel's murder. Hayden does find out that he was in a detention center in Texas. Hayden knows that she must go there to get any information that she can. For some reason, her company refuses to pay for her to go there. Along with everything else that is going on, the partner that gave her the case is murdered. Does his death have anything to do with this case?

While Andrew is trying very hard to get this fair together, he is also being blackmailed by someone who claims to know his true identity and is going to expose him. But in a twist of fate, he tells his father what is going on, and he gets a shock, his father already knew.

Cara Putman writes a great story. It has suspense and a little romance. I really liked the way that the story line kept me guessing. I never thought that being a lawyer could be as dangerous as in BEYOND JUSTICE. Hayden goes through a lot. I am sure that some lawyers do encounter situations like this. I see from the back cover that Cara is a lawyer. Her profession makes sense by the way she writes. Maybe something like this has happened to her.

BEYOND JUSTICE is the kind of book; you would want to have if you are going on vacation. You can just sit back and enjoy. It is a fast read. Read it in two days. When I can read a book in that short of time, I know it is going to be great.
