I was really drawn to ALL THE STARS LEFT BEHIND because of the eye-catching cover and a synopsis that sounds intriguing. What is there not to love about a young adult sci-fi fantasy. I am a fan of young adult books but I am not all that sure how I feel about this book overall. The ending was so predictable that you will see it coming, no surprise. While Graham has a really vivid imagination that you will see as you read through this novel. The setting and some of the scenes are brilliantly described right down to the last detail. The characters have all be strategically thought out with backstories that both help and hurt the plot line.
I found ALL THE STARS LEFT BEHIND to be a really good sci-fi and action-packed novel but I cannot get over the ending. There might be another book in the works that would explain the ending a little better. Leda is just lost her father and her mother has no interest in her. So, she is living with relatives in Norway that until she moved in with them, she did not know about. There she meets Roar who works for her uncle. He has his own secrets to deal with but is immediately attracted to Leda. She soon finds out who he is and what he is hiding. Their attraction turns to instant love. I really would have liked to have seen more development there and feel it would have helped with the overall story. This book is really fast paced with non-stop action. I hope there is a second book that will explain the ending better. A good read none the less.
Book Summary
Relocating to Arctic Norway would put a freeze on anyone’s social life. For Leda Lindgren, with her crutches and a chip on her shoulder the size of her former Manhattan home, the frozen tundra is just as boring as it sounds. Until she meets her uncle’s gorgeous employee.
Unfortunately, no matter how smoking hot the guy is, Roar comes with secrets as unnerving as his moving tattoos. And Leda doesn’t trust him.
Roar shouldn’t be drawn to the moody human girl with eyes that leave him weak in the knees. But when Leda gets shot by one of his enemies and survives, Roar finally understands why he’s drawn to her: Leda is exactly what he was sent to Earth to find. A weapon of immense power capable of saving his planet.
She just doesn’t know it yet.
