Years ago Mercy Ledger survived a serial killer but instead of of finding peace she is continually treated as if she is mentally ill. A brave nurse and Cain rescue her and in doing so they find more than one type of evil is in the world. Sometimes those believed to be mentally unbalanced are really the only sane people and the good are the crazies.

SAVING MERCY is frightening, thrilling and in it's own way a sweet romance. Whenever two people who are troubled can find solace and love, it's a good read. Cain is the son of a serial killer, who was training him to follow in his footsteps, but he escaped his hold and is now an F.B.I. consultant. He uses the victims blood to get into the head of the killer. Kind of creepy but it works for him and this book. Mercy has had a hard life and with the "help" of a crazed psychologist she has been trapped in a psych ward under his "care." Being rescued by the son of the man who destroyed her life, might seem totally wrong but this turns out to be the best thing that could happen to Mercy.

The atmosphere of the whole book is tense (really serial killer on the loose, what do you expect) but author Abbie Roads does manage to bring some light and warmth to two people who desperately need it. I especially liked the fact that the good doctor got his and that the book did end on a very positive note. You will have to read to find out what happens as I can't say more.

If you love dark, edgy, slightly crazy storylines, with a couple who are survivors and perfectly matched for each other and most off all ... you don't mind sleeping with a nightlight, then SAVING MERCY is perfect for you.
