Rafe DaSilva is the right hand to the queen of the energy vampires (evamps). They are beings that soak up the sun and, and, on rare occasions, from the energy of humans around them. them. The secret to the evamps good health is that the humans must be clean without drugs or alcohol or disease. If a vampire chooses the wrong partner they transform into sycophants and they become a threat to both evamps and humans. Never having had a problem with attraction toward humans before, Rafe is surprised by the sudden THIRST he feels toward the human with a badge trying to solve something that he can't allow her to solve: a human's death at the hands of an evamp.

Detective Renee Holden comes into the picture as a homicide detective with a very strange murder on her hands. The witness swears she saw a vampire. Right. This death is hard enough to explain with the man healthy as a horse until he had a heart attack and except for the twin puncture wounds on the back of his neck Renee wouldn't even wonder. Not that vampires are real but there are crazies who believe they are those beings and if so her job is to find him and stop him.

Enter one sexy, fascinating being, in a health food grocery store no less. She can't get distracted that's easy to say if the man in front of her wasn't so enticing. Little does Detective Renee know that this "man" is about to lead her into a world she never believed existed and just might not survive.

Whenever I pick up a Jacquelyn Frank book I know I will find myself in an intriguing, beguiling world that I won't want to leave. THIRST is just such a book. The action starts from the first page and continues to the last, with the reader wishing for more. Rafe is an interesting mixture of bad-ass and suave, debonair man. Renee is also a bad-ass; a smart and determined woman who isn't so quick to let this stranger into her world but when she does, wow! The build up of the romance and the steamy are equally amazing to read. I have to admit I do appreciate the caution that Renee used when it came to Rafe, after all it fit her police training mentality and would have been a bit out of character to be too trusting right away. The bad guys are just dreadful and the supporting characters including her police partner are realistic and absorbing. If you are looking for a book that will hold you in it's grip, with characters you will love and the perfect amount of romance with equal intriguing action then THIRST is just what you need.

Book Summary

Rafe DaSilva is an energy vampire, soaking up nourishment from the sun—and, only when necessary, drawing sweet sustenance from humans who are pure in body and spirit. As the right-hand man to his queen, Rafe is a key player at a historic peace summit in New York City, which will unite the vampire nations against a common threat: the sycophants, who feed on humanity and kill indiscriminately. But Rafe’s fascination with a beautiful blond police detective may put everything at risk.

Detective Renee Holden has never worked a homicide quite like this. The victim has twin puncture wounds on his neck, and the only eyewitness swears she saw a vampire. Now’s definitely not the time to get distracted by a seductive stranger. But the suave, darkly austere, exotically handsome Rafe DaSilva is a hard man to deny, and as Renee falls under his spell, she also falls prey to his enemies. Desperate to protect her, Rafe lifts the veil on a shadow realm she can only visit—a world of intoxicating power, terrifying dangers, and forbidden pleasures.
