DISCOVERING YOU is the latest book based on the lives and escapades of the Amos brothers. Brenda Novak has fashioned some really interesting hunks that have had to learn to survive all on their own. Their mother committed suicide leaving a distraught husband who turned to the bottle instead of concentrating on his sons. Now, after spending several years in prison, the father has returned home but he brought baggage with him. A wife and her daughter and all of them are residing in the family home. However, that isn't even the most difficult problem. You see, the Amos boys have had quite a life filled with getting in over their heads in trouble. Lucky for them the oldest brother, Dylan, took over the role of father and breadwinner building up the family auto repair business. The Amos Repair business is thriving thanks to Dylan and his brothers. The brothers are now saddled with their mostly useless father, his addict wife and the teenage daughter who is trying hard to break out of the mold set by her mother.

Aha -- you probably think that is the basis of this amazing story. Well, it is only on the periphery. The real story is about their new neighbor India. India has a past that she would just as soon leave behind but she is not that lucky. India's history has been the fodder of newspapers and periodicals. Sebastian, her husband's murderer, is still not incarcerated for his crime. Even though India witnessed the murder she has been treated as if complicit in the crime. Moving to Whiskey Creek was a chance to get away from the notoriety and start a new life with her young daughter.

And India winds up as a neighbor of the Amos family. As fate would have it she is immediately attracted to one of the brothers, Rod. India finds Rod to be much more than he appears. In fact she realizes that beyond the attraction is the fact that Rod makes her feel safe. Pretty important considering that Sebastian may very well still be a threat to India and her daughter.

No matter how far you travel -- no matter how many years have passed -- mistakes of your youth have a way of popping up. It takes a long time to outlive those mistakes. People have very long memories. For the Amos brothers, their character is still being judged on their prior activities. It seems like everything they do winds up under some microscope. So they are all working diligently to prove themselves as competent reliable honest adults.

For India these men are becoming more than just neighbors -- they are becoming good friends. Her relationship with Rod is definitely problematic for both of them. India has to be circumspect in any relationship with a man since the issue of her guilt in Charles' death is ongoing. Rod is ready to jump into the fray. India is trying to carefully weigh the safety she feels with Rod with the possibility of putting them all in danger. Sebastian is out there. It could just be a matter of time until he shows himself which would definitely put them all in jeopardy.

So if you've been enjoying Brenda Novak's tales about the Amos boys you are definitely in for a treat. DISCOVERING YOU reveals just how wonderful these brothers are now that they have finally outgrown their troubled youth.
