HARD RAIN is the latest installment in the Montana Hamiltons, a series that is quite honestly hard to put down. B.J. Daniels keeps upping the ante on the ongoing presidential campaign of Buckmaster Hamilton and his six daughters and two wives. Poor Buckmaster, or Buck as he is known to his friends, has an uphill battle in his race for the White House and in HARD RAIN B.J. Daniels throws into play the biggest wrench to date.

A particularly hard rain storm virtually opens a can of worms. Steeped in rumors the disappearance of Maggie McTavish has remained a mystery in Beertooth Montana and for her family. They had to go on with life with an ever present hole created by her sudden absence. So many stories of why she ran away—scandalous affair with a married man—Maggie was best known as a wild teenage girl with considerably loose morals.

But by a strange twist of fate, Maggie's disappearance is now being considered a murder with everyone pointing fingers as the list of possible suspects and prospects grow.

In a small closely knit community everyone knows everyone, but that doesn't mean they are friends. In fact two families have been feuding and holding a grudge for generations. Now that feud will once again be resurrected just when Brody McTavish and Harper Hamilton realize their mutual growing attraction. Brody and Harper are facing a sort of Romeo and Juliet fractious rebellion to their budding relationships.

They need to find a solution to the murder if they have a possible future together. Needless to say there are forces that would prefer to keep facts surrounding Maggie's death buried. If she was murdered then her killers could very well be at large.

B.J. Daniels creates quite a chase to ferret out a murderer in HARD RAIN while also developing a wondrous romance. HARD RAIN is an intelligent study in the dynamics within a candidly dysfunctional family. So many skeletons to deal with—no pun intended. This is the fourth book in the Montana Hamiltons series, which has absolutely captured my attention with its storyline and characters who become more developed and seasoned in each installment. You can easily step into the Montana Hamilton series at any time. Daniels makes sure to include little tidbits about each characters to remind us of their importance in the developing storyline.
