I love Dennis Mira and have wanted to know more about him, particularly after he gave Eve that silly snowflake hat that warms both her head and her heart every time she puts it on. BROTHERHOOD IN DEATH, the forty-second book in the long-running In Death series, delves deeply into the life of Mr. Mira's cousin and those who surround him. More importantly, we get the little glimpses into the personality of Mr. Mira, which make him such a treasured, fatherly figure. The scene where he makes homemade hot chocolate for Eve and Peabody brought tears to my eyes as his warmth and love shine through the pages.

BROTHERHOOD IN DEATH is one of the more intense books in the In Death series as Eve's past rears its ugly head again. I love how Eve stands for her victims, no matter how awful they may have been in life, as she seeks justice for their murders. BROTHERHOOD IN DEATH puts her in quite the conundrum and gives us some touching moments with Eve processing her thoughts and feelings not only with Roarke but also Mr. Mira and Peabody. I love every book in the In Death series but BROTHERHOOD IN DEATH certainly ranks among my favorites as we see Eve acknowledging her own strengths and ability to rise beyond the horrors she experienced as a child.

Robb is an absolute master at crafting realistic characters and showing us their all-too- human emotions, and this is never more evident than in BROTHERHOOD IN DEATH. New readers to the In Death series will appreciate the phenomenal story and beautifully written characters while fans of the series will cherish the insights given into beloved characters. If you haven't read a J.D. Robb book, then jump right in with BROTHERHOOD IN DEATH.
