When her Aunt Ibby sees an identical one on TV, Lee decides she must have it. Lee purchases it from the owner of a Salem antique shop. The next day, Lee returns to the shop only to find the owner, Shea Tolliver, dead on the floor.

The bureau was once owned by a woman who was murdered. With Shea Tolliver's death, people begin to wonder if the bureau is cursed. Lee doesn't believe in curses but she does wonder if Shea discovered something in one of the drawers that led to her death.

With the bureau in her new bedroom, Lee gets busy with her summer job. Since her classes are out, she accepts a job acquiring props for the plays the drama department will be putting on this summer.

Lee saves the thrill of finding the hidden compartments to share with her boyfriend, Pete. Since Pete is investigating the death of Shea, the search is postponed. When they get around to finding the contents of the drawers, the clues will further the investigation. Lee starts dreaming about the murder of the original owner of the bureau and a missing diamond.

What she and Pete discover will re-open the investigation of a twenty year old murder. LOOK BOTH WAYS is the third in the Witchy City mysteries. The stories just keep getting better. This book keeps the reader guessing as possibilities are investigated. Lee is learning to control her gifts and her dreams play a direct role in discovering the killer.

Book Summary

In Salem, Massachusetts, there are secret everywhere-- even in the furniture. . .

When Lee Barrett spots the same style oak bureau she once had as a child on the WICH-TV show, Shopping Salem, she rushes to the antiques shop and buys the piece. Just like the beloved bureau she lost in a fire, this one has secret compartments. It also comes with an intriguing history--it was purchased in an estate sale from a home where a famous local murder took place.

The day after the bureau is delivered, Lee returns to the antiques shop and finds the owner dead. The police suspect the shop owner's unscrupulous business partner, but Lee wonders if the murder is connected to her new furniture. At least part of the answer may be revealed through a mirror in the bureau, tarnished and blackened, allowing Lee to tap into her psychic visions. Using this bureau of investigation, Lee may be able to furnish her policeman beau with the evidence needed to catch the killer--before the next one to be shut up is her. . .
