New beginnings are never easy but Jessie is giving everything she has to her new start. She's still reeling from betrayal by the man she thinks is her husband, Jack Stanton. Recently, she learns he did not divorce his first wife when he married Jessie. Is she finally free from him? Can she be Jessie Hart once more and forget the nightmare of his Bernie Madoff-like thefts? Jack left her, disappearing to some distant island, taking all their assets. He left only the huge diamond engagement ring, which Jessie sells to start her new business and get a new apartment. Now here in LaLa Land, she is building her business, ADORNMENTS. It is a rental store for designer labels. She loves the vintage and truly lovely clothes she finds and "shares" with her clients. The yummy descriptions of the clothes are enjoyable to me, as are the festive events, such as the red carpet appearances in Tinsel City.

Surrounded by loyal friends at the Tuscan Sun restaurant, Jessie is thankful to have Antonio, Piper, Amber, Steph, Riggs and Danny by her side to celebrate her recovery and recent success in her business. Jack appears, ankle bracelet, compliments of the FBI in place, tries to talk to Jessie but Danny and Riggs show him out quickly. What additional heartache and havoc will he cause?

The narratives by Grampy, her grandfather, and the greatest love of Jessie's life, are added at the end of each chapter, giving an insight into Jessie's childhood in Slidell, Louisiana. He adds his prayers for her future and hopes this time it will be with "the right man." Grampy is very lovable and adds some light-hearted fun to this sweet story.

In the end, Jessie begins to trust and love again. With patience, and lots of good humor, Danny steals her heart and his proposal is beautiful. I re-read it several times and forecast you will have a crush on Danny just as I do. What charm!

Sandra B. Bricker is a great storyteller whose characters come alive and stay with you long after you turn the last page. She easily integrates faith issues in such a realistic, yet subtle way. I look forward to reading more from her.

Book Summary

Now that the whole truth has come out about her husband’s double life—including the fact that she and Jack were never legally married—Jessie is standing on her own for the first time in her life. As she struggles to put Adornments, her rental store for designer labels, on the map in Tinsel Town, her relationship with private investigator Danny Callahan gains momentum.

When she dresses a reluctant Danny in Valentino for undercover work at a formal affair, it’s him rather than her store that captures Hollywood’s notice. Danny, snapped by photogs, lands as the unlikely cover model on the front of L.A. Magazine. So much for inconspicuous. Will his popularity thwart her efforts to grow her business? Or worse, can Jessie afford to put her faith—and heart—into another relationship when she’s so obviously handicapped in the good judgment department?
