The kind of shapeshifter which transmutes into an avian form is astoundingly rare. But that doesn't mean they should receive abuse or be treated like animals. After all, they're people too, right? In HAWK'S REVENGE, we see that a shadowy organisation has been trapping various shapeshifters for unethical experiments, claiming that this is for the good of humanity. A brave few have released the shifters and hidden them. Hawk was one, but now he is trapped in the laboratory.

This paranormal romance is difficult to read for someone who believes in ethical treatment for animals and people when research is being conducted. Hawk shifter Adrian Sokolov is being drugged and experimented on, kept without being able to shift. He can't communicate with the outside world. The one person he used to trust, Dr. Rachel Russell, turned out to be luring him into a trap.

Rachel is still committed to freeing the caged shifters, but she had to preserve her own skin and agreed to trap Adrian. If her bosses find out she's a secret liberator, she's dead. But she can't leave without making a final effort to get Adrian; he had come to mean so much to her on a personal level. But will he ever trust her again? She has to navigate the secured world of the research centre, talk to fellow scientists, and hope her cover doesn't get blown.

Adrian had been a Special Forces soldier in the past, as have other shifters, using their innate strengths to serve. With the raptor's solitary nature, Adrian never joined a clan of lycanthropes when he came back to civilian life. However, the Lone Pine pride in Wyoming, which admits shifters other than the usual mountain lions, would be a good place for him to find refuge. But these suspicious people have no love for Organisation doctors.

There's a good mix of extraordinarily believable shapeshifters populating this tale, from black bears to lynxes. Vivi Andrews holds the reader's attention with new conflicts and dangers as the hero and heroine have to get to know each other all over again. Medical jargon is peppered through to explain new concepts. With strong language and adult scenes, HAWK'S REVENGE is well worth a read for fans of paranormal romance. Just don't get clawed.

Book Summary

Her betrayal is unforgivable. But their passion? Unforgettable.

Lone Pine Pride, Book 3

Hawk-shifter Adrian Sokolov made the mistake of trusting the beautiful Dr. Rachel Russell once—and wound up drugged, captured, and experimented on inside Organization Labs.

He isn’t about to make the same mistake again, but when she offers to help him escape this hell hole, he can’t say no. Her only condition? That he take her with him.

From the moment Rachel discovered her bosses’ true intent, she’s been secretly smuggling shifters out of the Labs. But now the higher-ups suspect they have a mole, and it’s time to flee—but not before she frees the golden-eyed hawk she was forced to betray.

When their escape goes wrong, Adrian wakes, confused and alone, in the safety of the Lone Pine Pride infirmary and realizes he may have left behind the one ally the shifters had within the Organization—the same breathtaking woman who invades his dreams.

Now he must face the Organization that destroyed him… before she pays for his freedom with her life.

Warning: This book contains betrayals, escapes, rescues, plots, double-crosses, a sexy surly hero, a heroine who deserves sainthood… and a pride full of trouble.
