Sutter Foley's story is a true rags-to-riches tale. Building his computer software company from the ground up has made him a multimillionaire, a tabloid favorite and cost him his marriage. Well, maybe his lost marriage had something to do with being "emotionally retarded," too. A true Englishman, Sutter is polite and very reserved, preferring solitude to companionship. This is working well for him, until a feisty vet shows up on his doorstep insisting he owns an equally spirited puppy. It turns out that the dog has been abandoned by Sutter's recently fired employee.
Somehow, and Sutter is not quite sure how, Megan convinces him to keep the dog. She sees something in him, a need he doesn't even know he has, and even though he continues to try to give up the puppy, she keeps persuading him to keep it. Through their repeated dealings with the pup, their attraction grows, and they soon find themselves making excuses to see each other, until ending inevitably in each others arms. Undeniable attraction and budding friendship aren't enough to overcome the damage of past relationships and the vast differences in lifestyles, especially when their affair is exposed in the tabloids. But maybe love and the promise of new life will.
I found GUYS & DOGS to be a very enjoyable read, and I definitely recommend it.
Book Summary
A GUY VS. A DOG
One of them is affectionate, loving, and eternally loyal -- a companion for life who lives only to make you happy...
Small-town veterinarian Megan Rose doesn't usually wake up next to strangers. But this morning she finds one sleeping in her bed. Unfortunately, "Baywatch" a stray puppy, doesn't belong at the address on her tags, either: the mansion of Sutter Foley, millionaire software mogul and six fabulous feet of gorgeous, eligible male.
Sutter doesn't even like dogs. He does, however, like the sexy, spunky vet who's trying to saddle him with a pooch. The animal magnetism they share is intense, but so is the spotlight in which Sutter lives. Can Megan stand the heat? Though her outspoken ways make a lot of waves in Sutter's goldfish-bowl world, he's never enjoyed life so much. Could she be the trustworthy companion he's been looking for . . . or should he stick with the dog?
It's the old story: girl meets dog . . . girl and dog meet guy . . . guy loses girl, gets dog . . . Or will there be a frisky new twist to this puppy's tale?
