Fraser Lachlan is risking his own life for his cousin, Lord Jack Lindsey. Bonnie Prince Charlie has made a retreat during battle and stranded Fraser and the injured Jack in England along with other Jacobites. Extreme measures must be taken to insure Lord Jack's survival.

Stumbling upon an English Derbyshire estate owned by Henry Delacourt, they are given refuge by the kind family, but not before Fraser is hit over the head and forced to the cellar. Martha Wantage surprisingly gets a glimpse of what this Scot has beneath his kilt. Martha has been caring for Mr. Delacourt's son Harry and daughter Rosie since the death of their mother. Choosing to protect both men from being turned over as traitors, they care for the Scots and nurse Jack back to health.

Still baring deep scars suffered during a horrendous attack by other Scots and losing her family, Martha bestows a kiss on Fraser while thinking him unconscious. She declares her hate for him and he secretly vows revenge. The plain "crabbit" woman is not what this valiant Scot wants, but the more they are together the more he sees beyond the scars and homeliness. The passion and fire that develops from the chaste kiss becomes a fiery longing not forgotten. Neither can deny the hot bodily responses felt between them. Falling in love with the gorgeous specimen of a warrior is beyond Martha's dreams. But, is it only the physical enjoyment that Fraser truly feels for this enemy?

A KISS FOR A HIGHLANDER is Book one in the Georgian Rebel Series. There is an abundance of history of the violence between England and Scotland while still finding love and passion between these two enemies. I loved the concept of a lonely and damaged woman fulfilling the dreams she believed were out of her reach and a man able to love a woman for the person she is and not appearance only. I did have to keep my mind focused to keep up with the trail of historical events. A KISS FOR A HIGHLANDER is a good story, well written, with a good refreshing plot.

Book Summary

A passion that burns away centuries of hate…

The Georgian Rebel Series, Book 1

Stranded in the heart of England after Bonnie Prince Charlie’s hasty retreat, highlander Fraser Lachlan has sworn to stay by his injured friend’s side. But when a kindly English family takes Jack in to be cared for by the governess and healer at their Derbyshire estate, Fraser can only watch helplessly.

It’s just a matter of time before Jack is turned over to the Crown as a traitor, but Fraser’s attempt to rescue his friend is met with the blunt end of a candlestick.

Martha Wantage wears every reason she hates the Scots on her body—in the scars from a violent, fiery attack that killed her family. Now she has not only one unconscious Jacobite rebel at her mercy, but two. And she can’t resist cursing her enemy with the “kiss of hate”.

That kiss unleashes a storm of passion that rages quickly out of control. But with the legacy of Martha’s scars weighing heavy on her mind, and Fraser’s duty calling him to battle at Culloden, it may be too late to explore whether theirs is a desire born of hate…or love.

Warning: Contains a very sexy, masterful highlander and a demure, but defiant, governess who discovers the hard— very hard—way exactly what a Scotsman keeps under his kilt.
