With the complexity of this series, I wouldn't suggest reading out of order. SHARD OF HOPE is quite heavy on the world and its politics, which can undoubtedly confuse some of you if you're not already acquainted with the world. That being said, with the combination of the stoic Arrows and the heavy political threads throughout the book, a lot of scenes have a more subtle impact.

This is especially true when it comes to the romance. Though still action- packed as Aden and Zaira work together to escape their pursuers, it does comes across as a slow burn rather than a full blast fire. Singh stays true to her characters in that way so while I could understand why she approached the book in this manner, SHARDS OF HOPE probably isn't my favorite compared to the other books in the series.

Aden and Zaira came across as mirror images of one another. I think this is what makes them work so well together. They are always on the same train of thought and although they value different things, at their core they remain very similar. The Arrows continue to be one of my favorite parts of this series so it's nice to see the two of them find a happily ever after worth reading about. In SHARDS OF HOPE, every page sizzles with intensity and intimacy.
