Another wonderful novel from the Longmire series awaits us with all the familiar amusement that these books provide. DRY BONES written by Craig Johnson will not disappoint his fans with this latest addition. Our main character, Walt Longmire still has his sense of humor during times of inevitable danger and the seriousness when things are a bit more emotional. This story takes Sheriff Longmire on another adventure with all your favorites.

Walt Longmire is the sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming where anything can happen, and usually does. The locals are out to "Save Jen" the fossils of a Tyrannosaurus Rex that Cheyenne tribe member had claimed that she belongs to him. She was found on the Cheyenne land. Then he is found dead and Sheriff Longmire, with his trusty undersheriff Victoria Moretti along with Dog and the help of others, have to find out how all of this is connected and why. To make things worse, Longmire has personal family matters to deal with as well. Will Longmire get to the bottom of who really owns the biggest find ever?

DRY BONES is packed with the amusing characters that we have grown to love in Craig Johnson's beloved series. Even if you are jumping into the series for the first time with this novel you will quickly understand everyone's relationships with each other. You'll love the connections Longmire has with his locals with my favorite being with Victoria, his under-sheriff and love interest. Their display of seriousness in their work but also the flirtation during those not so serious situations all happens in the appropriate times.

Treat yourself this summer with this delightful western story with a main character that you'll find easy to love. DRY BONES written by Craig Johnson is a magnificent mystery that you will be sure to get hooked on.

Book Summary

In the latest installment of Craig Johnson’s New York Times bestselling Longmire series, Wyoming’s beloved lawman takes on his coldest case yet

When Jen, the largest, most complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton ever found surfaces in Sherriff Walt Longmire’s jurisdiction, it appears to be a windfall for the High Plains Dinosaur Museum—until Danny Lone Elk, the Cheyenne rancher on whose property the remains were discovered, turns up dead, floating face down in a turtle pond. With millions of dollars at stake, a number of groups step forward to claim her, including Danny’s family, the tribe, and the federal government. As Wyoming’s Acting Deputy Attorney and a cadre of FBI officers descend on the town, Walt is determined to find out who would benefit from Danny’s death, enlisting old friends Lucian Connolly and Omar Rhoades, along with Dog and best friend Henry Standing Bear, to trawl the vast Lone Elk ranch looking for answers to a sixty-five million year old cold case that’s heating up fast.
