Coming across an advertisement looking for riders for the new Pony Express, Sam sees an opportunity, but when that appears to be a dead end, she finds friendship and help in the shape of Valerian Fitzpatrick. Inexplicably drawn to the young lad Sam, he tries his best to be a good friend and help the boy secure a job with the horses he loves so much.
With danger around every corner, an evil uncle determined to get revenge, and a surprise discovery that opens up two young hearts to love, will Samantha ever find the comfort and home that she has always wanted?
EXPRESSLY YOURS, SAMANTHA by Becky Lower is a delightful short tale full of the adventure that the Wild West is known for. Samantha is so strong and brave and as her feelings grew for Valerian, I really hoped she would get to experience some happiness in her life. Valerian is a caring hero, who even when he thought Samantha was a boy, helped her at every possible turn. Although I do not generally like old Western romances, I will make an exception for EXPRESSLY YOURS, SAMANTHA by Becky Lower, as it is thoroughly enjoyable.
Book Summary
Samantha Hughes has one day to escape from her wicked uncle, and a sign in the post office is her answer. She'll cut her hair to pose as a man and become Sam Hughes, a Pony Express rider.
Valerian Fitzpatrick doesn't want the weight of responsibility that his brothers have in the family business. Fortunately, the Pony Express offers a chance to make his own way in the world.
He assumes his new buddy, Sam, is on the run from the law, until she's hit by a stray gunshot and he has to undress her to staunch the wound. Friendship quickly turns to attraction - and more - but when Sam's uncle tracks her down, she is forced to run yet again.
Val's determined to find her, but will a future with Sam mean giving up the freedom he's always craved?
