Olivia Sterling flees her parent's house in Chicago and heads to Kansas to escape an arranged marriage. A professional seamstress, Olivia settles in an all-black town where she becomes a popular member of the community. In her 32 years, a man has never tempted Olivia, until she meets a dazzling outlaw who robs her and sets her heart on fire. She knows as a good woman she should ignore him, but he is a tempting man.

Neil July, a Negro Seminole outlaw for the past 10 years, encounters a feisty woman who makes him rethink his profession. Neil entered into a life of robbing in order to feed his people. He has strong bitterness toward the government that employed him as a scout, but looked the other way as the Indians starved. With a bounty on his head, Neil should walk away from Olivia, but he cannot.

The temperature sizzles between Neil and Olivia, and heads Olivia toward scandal as she sneaks away for stolen moments. Their time is limited and Neil must choose to ride off or end his career as an outlaw.

Rich in historical detail about the Black Seminoles, SOMETHING LIKE LOVE gives a fascinating account of famous black settlements after the Great Exodus of 1879. Readers will be pleased to find characters from Ms. Jenkins other books taking part in Olivia and Neil's story. On another note, our sympathy goes to Ms. Jenkins on the recent death of her husband. Her quote in the acknowledgment is priceless. "Wipe your tears so that you can see where God is leading you next."

Desperate to escape an arranged marriage, Olivia Sterling flees Chicago and heads west. She dreams of setting up her own seamstress shop in Henry Adams, a small all-Black town in Kansas. But her plans are derailed when her train is robbed by Neil July and his notorious band of outlaws.

Neil is enchanted by the headstrong and lovely Olivia. No woman has ever set his blood on fire before, and he suspects no other woman ever will. When they meet again, Olivia is the town's newly elected mayor and Neil is still the wanted outlaw. With bounty hunters on his trail, he would be wise not to linger, yet he can't seem to leave her. Will Neil be able to convince Olivia to ride off into the sunset with him? Or will he finally lay down his guns for love?
