After reading the book description and the opening chapter, I was worried that the relationship between vampire Sadie and werewolf Killian would be too antagonistic to be enjoyable for me. Happily, that did not end up being the case. The sexual tension and the, at time times, prickly flirtation only whets the reader's appetite for the consummation of their desire. Another thing I really like about VAMPIRES NEVER CRY WOLF is that, no matter what dangers arise over the course of the book, the relationship and developing romance between Sadie and Killian is paramount. There is just enough danger and intrigue to make things more interesting, while still keeping things fun and sexy.
Like Sadie, I ended up liking Killian a lot more than I thought I would. At the beginning of VAMPIRES NEVER CRY WOLF, Killian deliberately ruffles Sadie's feathers and comes off as being a little obnoxious and arrogant. I like that this story is told from both points of view, giving the reader a better portrait of the main characters by giving a window into their psyches. I like both Sadie and Killian enormously -- they are both complex and extremely likable characters. Both main characters have flaws as well as good points, thus making them easy to relate to, despite their paranormal attributes. Sadie has a lot of inner strength that she doesn't realize she has. Killian evolves into an incredibly romantic and utterly fabulous hero by the end of VAMPIRES NEVER CRY WOLF. The chemistry between Killian and Sadie is electrifying and the love scenes are smoking.
VAMPIRES NEVER CRY WOLF is everything I want in a paranormal romance -- full of fun werewolf and vampire sexiness. This is a story that can work as a stand-alone without confusing readers who may be new to the series. After reading VAMPIRES NEVER CRY WOLF I am eager to hunt down the previous books, and look forward to new ones.
Book Summary
Vampires are nothing but trouble...
As far as beautiful vampire Sadie Pemberton is concerned,
werewolves shouldn't be sticking their noses into New
York's
supernatural politics. They don't know jack about running
a
city-not even that hot-as-sin new vampire-werewolf liaison
who's just arrived in town.
Werewolves are too sexy for their own good...
The last thing Killian Bane wanted was to end up in New
York
City playing nice with vampires. Unfortunately, he's on a
mission, and when he encounters the sexiest, most stubborn
female vamp he's ever met, he's going to have to turn on a
little of that wolfish charm...and Sadie's going to learn
a
thing or two about what it means to have a wild side...
