Detective A.J. Parker left undercover work in Atlanta to join the small-town police force in Tennessee hoping the easier workload and the solitude of his cabin would keep him sane. He gets a taste of his old life when an animal rescue leads to a meth lab and hints of a dangerous drug operation.
The dog rescued by that event is badly traumatized herself, no name and only treated nicely when pregnant is given the name Holly, and a chance at a good life. She just needs to learn a little trust, OK a lot of trust, a few tricks and maybe she can bring the two opposites that are training her together.
RESCUE ME is delightful ... it is a book filled with love on many levels as well as deep emotional hits that bring pain and pleasure. Along the way there are a number of unexpected twists and turns that will take readers to an unexpected ending. I loved Holly, the rescue dog's, words of wisdom at the top of each chapter and her love for TV was so funny, as well as the snippets of her thoughts that we get to read. Every page is filled with people working through past pains and toward good, strong futures, so as we watched Holly grow to find the world is a good place, so we get to see the humans around her learn the same thing. The romance between A.J. and Mary Hannah is realistic with ups and downs as their pasts come up and get worked through and the trust builds. Author Catherine Mann writes a compelling book about rescue dogs in a way that makes you believe in love for all God's creatures.
Book Summary
A rescued dog returns the favor in the latest Second Chance Romance from USA Today bestselling author of Shelter Me.
Detective AJ Parker left undercover work in Atlanta to join a small-town Tennessee police force, hoping for an easier workload and the solitude of his cabin. But the scars left by AJ’s previous work are more difficult to escape than he thought...
Mary Hannah Gallo works with the Second Chance Ranch Animal Rescue to train therapy dogs for traumatized patients. It isn’t easy, but her life is under control—until she meets the broodingly sensual AJ, who rattles her composure all the way to her toes.
After an assignment confiscating dogs from a backyard breeder reveals a dangerous drug operation, AJ must work with sexy perfectionist Mary Hannah to train an abused rescue dog—a dog now named Holly. While Holly proves to these two very different people that opposites can, in fact, attract, she also knows more than a few explosive secrets that could heal—or divide—the entire town.
