This is her backstory and allows the readers to get to know her a little better while offering a glimpse into how she became able to do what she does. She is the town's reluctant psychic and is both loved and feared by the residents of The Hollows, which is something that she has grown to accept. Being basically the town outcast was not her dream existence, but she learns to deal with it and is resigned to the way people tend to feel about her.

The story of Eloise Montgomery is quite captivating and will be even more so to fans of The Hollows series. In fact, it is a must read for those fans of which I count myself as one. THE WHISPERS is a creepy crawly short tale that will make you want to run, not walk, to the nearest bookstore or library and get started reading The Hollows books. It is a fascinating introduction to this mesmerizing little town of ordinary and not so ordinary people.
