Grey and Ben's best friend, Jagger, promises to stay by her side and help her get past her grief. Two years pass and Grey and Jagger are getting ready to graduate from college. Grey is still severely depressed but Jagger stays by her side and helps her get through graduation day. They move back to their hometown of Thatch where Grey attempts to start her life without Ben.
Grey and Jagger end up spending all of their time together. Soon, Grey realizes she has feelings for Jagger but she feels that moving on is betraying Ben's memory. Soon we find out that Jagger has always loved Grey but kept his feelings to himself because he didn't want to break up Ben and Grey.
When Grey finds out that Jagger has feelings for her she freaks out. All she can think about is Ben and what he would think if he were alive. Jagger doesn't press the issue and waits for Grey and what she wants. When she finally realizes that she does have feelings for Jagger, they decide to make it official.
Soon strange things start happening. Grey gets a Facebook message from Ben. And his wedding vows to her are found on her car. Other things from Ben keep appearing. Grey begins to second guess her relationship with Jagger and Jagger worries that he is going to lose her. Then Jagger's Mom starts to blackmail Grey for money. Will Grey finally be able to let the memory of Ben rest and move on with Jagger? Who is trying to keep them apart? And what does Jagger's Mom want from Grey? The ending of this book LETTING GO is shocking and great.
LETTING GO is a great book that will touch readers and have them cheering for Grey and Jagger. I do wish that we had met Ben. I wanted to know why he was such a great guy and so difficult to move on from. Jagger is a great guy and so caring and loving towards Grey. When Grey struggled with her feelings towards Jagger I wanted to shake her and ask her what her problem was! I also felt there were parts of the book that just didn't need to be there. It didn't take away from the story though and when I thought I knew how the book would end, Molly McAdams threw in a twist that really had me flipping the pages til the end.
Book Summary
The New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author returns with a sizzling novel of love, loss, guilt, and forgiveness.
Grey and Ben fell in love at thirteen and believed they’d be together forever. But three days before their wedding, the twenty-year-old groom-to-be suddenly died from an unknown heart condition, destroying his would-be-bride’s world. If it hadn’t been for their best friend, Jagger, Grey never would have made it through those last two years to graduation. He’s the only one who understands her pain, the only one who knows what it’s like to force yourself to keep moving when your dreams are shattered. Jagger swears he’ll always be there for her, but no one has ever been able to hold on to him. He’s not the kind of guy to settle down.
It’s true that no one has ever been able to keep Jagger— because he’s only ever belonged to Grey. While everyone else worries over Grey’s fragility, he’s the only one who sees her strength. Yet as much as he wants Grey, he knows her heart will always be with Ben. Still they can’t deny the heat that is growing between them—a passion that soon becomes too hot to handle. But admitting their feelings for each other means they’ve got to face the past. Is being together what Ben would have wanted . . . or a betrayal of his memory that will eventually destroy them both?
