CHAINS OF DARKNESS is a sexy; keep you on the edge of your seat vampire paranormal. This is not a book that is easily put down; luckily I was off the next day, as I was unable to stop even at the end of a chapter. I found Claire to be a very tough lady, who was thrust into a world that doesn't exist ... only it does. There are vampires and then there are Lucian and his friends. They are definitely the good guys. I enjoyed the contrast in characters between those honor bound to protect and those who want to conquer or just get over. I also found it intriguing that Lucien fears accepting his Ancestral form because he thinks he will become like his father. He saw only the darker side of himself and it takes Claire to show him the truth.

This is book two of author Caris Roane's Men in Chains series, but don't worry if you didn't read book one, this one is a stand alone. You will of course want to grab Born in Chains book one, as it pertains to Lucian's brother Adrien and his release from their evil father. I will put this in my TRA shelf and can't wait for the next offering from Ms. Roane.
